Meet Dr. Duer
Mental Health Advocate, Public Speaker and Podcaster
Hi! I’m Dr. Stephanie Duer, and I’m passionate about helping communities better understand and support mental health. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working at the intersection of mental health and education, two worlds I care deeply about. My goal has always been to spark meaningful change by making mental health a priority that is supported in our schools and communities.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified School Counselor with a Doctorate in Executive Leadership in Mental Health and Human Services, I’ve dedicated much of my work to bridging the gap between mental wellness and educational success. I’m a strong advocate for trauma-informed practices, and I love bringing educators, mental health professionals, and law enforcement together to build safer, more compassionate school environments.
I frequently speak at state and national conferences, where I focus on blending practical strategies with inspiration and real-world experience. Whether I’m talking about supporting students, families, first responders, or entire communities, my goal is always the same: to empower people with tools they can use right away. I always aim to keep it real with practical strategies that take into account the reality of everyday life.
Beyond speaking, I continue these conversations on my podcast, “Dishing with Dr. Duer,” where I share insights, stories, and encouragement aimed at elevating mental wellness for all. One of my guiding beliefs comes from a favorite quote:
“You see things; and you say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were; and I say, ‘Why not?’” – George Bernard Shaw.
That “why not?” spirit drives me every day! I hope to inspire others to think boldly, dream differently, and reimagine what’s possible for mental health in our schools and communities.
